The optional year 10 is a real opportunity for all pupils who have completed year 9 and want to take a decisive step forwards in their education and/or sporting career. It oﬀers the ideal conditions to prepare for entrance exams into colleges. In the optional year 10, provides the foundation for a successful academic future.
During the optional year 10, work focuses on the increasing development of the skills needed and practice for the required examination materials for year 3 of the grammar school, and year 1 of upper-secondary specialised school and commercial school. Up to the entrance exam, the teaching materials concentrate in particular on the cantonal requirements of prior knowledge for acceptance into college. Following on from that, the work of year 3 from secondary school is repeated and students are readied for their transfer to college. Through targeted repetition of secondary school subject matter, the students develop the requisite know-how and selfconﬁdence to successfully navigate their further education.
During the optional year 10, up-and-coming athletes are given the opportunity to optimally combine school and sport together. In this decisive phase of their sporting development, ambitious young people can prepare themselves for the entrance exams to college as well as enjoy daily, intensive training in our sports class.
To facilitate this, we employ the best trainers and can boast an excellent infrastructure which has already produced Olympic champions. The Institute is the official training facility for the regional competitive sports promoter and one of the most successful sports schools in Switzerland.
The optional year 10 is open to motivated young people, willing to learn, who as a rule have completed year 3 of secondary school or an equivalent education. They should have distinguished themselves at secondary school with good marks, be motivated to attend school and make a concerted eff ort to achieve their personal goals. The HIF values open, sociable and tolerant pupils.
The HIF is known far and wide for its family feeling. The staff in the boarding school are always available for help and advice. They support pupils during school hours and organise extensive leisure activities. Comfortable bedrooms and numerous communal areas are provided for the students.
At the weekend your child is also supported with a wide variety of special activities. These activities are sometimes organised individually by our pupils according to their own needs.
In addition to cost of basic tuition, your selection from our array of further services, such as the sport class or boarding, determine the definitive total cost of tuition for your child.
We offer in our sport class intensive, individualized and ability-appropriate competitive-training, conceptualized for talented young athletes. Alternately, in our fun sport group, we also provide athletically-oriented adolescents the opportunity to learn about fitness, weight training and training for a specific athletic discipline.
For pupils who reside in the National Park Region, we have special rates to offer, provided that they are members of the regional ski-sport booster club (Skisport Förderverein RNP).
