Behavioural Expectations for Students

At HIF Camps, every camper becomes part of our mountain community. We live, learn, and explore together in an atmosphere of respect, curiosity, and adventure. These expectations help ensure that everyone enjoys a safe, inspiring, and unforgettable experience in the Swiss Alps.

1. Respect for Self, Others, and Place

We treat everyone — campers, staff, and local community members — with kindness and respect. We care for the natural world around us, leaving every trail, river, and classroom better than we found it.

2. Active Participation

We bring a positive attitude, try new things, and give our best in every activity — whether it’s on the slopes, in the classroom, or during evening challenges.

3. Safety First

We listen carefully to staff, follow instructions, and look out for one another. We understand that safety comes before speed or competition, both in sports and in daily routines.

4. Community Spirit

We are inclusive, supportive, and fair. Bullying, exclusion, or disrespect of any kind are not part of who we are. We celebrate each person’s differences and share in one another’s successes.

5. Responsibility and Integrity

We are honest in our words and actions. We take care of our belongings, respect shared spaces, and uphold the trust placed in us as HIF campers.

6. Care for the Environment

We are guests in a remarkable Alpine ecosystem. We conserve energy, reduce waste, recycle, and treat the land, animals, and plants with care.

7. Digital Etiquette

Phones are collected and safely kept by staff throughout the camp. They are returned at set times for personal use. We choose to be present — to connect with friends face to face, breathe in the mountain air, and savour moments that matter more than screen time.

8. Healthy Choices

We maintain healthy routines: balanced meals, rest, hydration, and respect for others’ personal space and wellbeing. We do not use or bring alcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances.

9. Cooperation and Communication

We use positive language, listen, and contribute to team goals. When challenges arise, we talk them through respectfully and seek support when needed.

10. Pride in HIF Values

We carry the HIF spirit wherever we go — curiosity, courage, friendship, and care for the planet. These values travel with us long after the camp ends.
