ABOUT HIF

Safeguarding and policies

HIF is committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment where pupils can flourish. Our safeguarding policies are designed to ensure that all members of the school community can live, learn and work in a secure environment.

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding involves a comprehensive approach to ensuring the well-being of children.

It includes providing safe and effective care, protecting children from maltreatment, preventing harm to their health or development, and taking proactive steps to give every child the best possible life chances. At HIF, we are fully committed to safeguarding all of our students from any form of harm or abuse.

Safeguarding encompasses a wide range of measures, including child protection procedures. It also takes a preventative approach to safety, covering areas such as student health and safety, behaviour and anti-bullying policies, support for pupils with medical conditions, personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education, first aid provision, and site security.

Mobile phone usage

To create a calm and focused environment where everyone can thrive, we’ve introduced clear and supportive guidelines around mobile phone use. During the school day, students put their phones aside so they can fully engage in learning, connect meaningfully with each other, and make the most of their time in and out of the classroom.

Boarding students are welcome to use their phones during designated times in their free hours, helping them stay in touch while maintaining a healthy balance.

Our students have embraced this approach, recognising how it enhances both their learning and their relationships across the school community.

School policies

This section offers easy access to our core school policies, ensuring that parents, pupils, and staff stay informed about the values and practices that support a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment.

We review and update our policies regularly to reflect best practices and to promote the ongoing well-being and success of our entire school community.

We encourage everyone in our community to familiarise themselves with these guidelines. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
