The HIF Campus extends along the mountain side at 1'700 m above sea level, high above the valley. From the window you look out at a grandiose panorama of southern alpine peaks that stretches away into the distance. The Campus is home to a community of young people from around the world.
This vibrant campus community thrives on its diversity, tolerance and a shared sense of belonging. For many months of the year HIF is literally ‘home’ to most of its students: those who live in one of the boarding houses. During the day–in the classroom, on the sports field, in the gym and in the wide variety of out-of-class activities - local students from the village and the valley below learn and play alongside them. It is a melting pot of languages and cultures in which life-long bonds and networks of real friendship are created. This is international education in its purest form, where the local meets the global and both learn from each other, take part in each other’s lives and are enriched by the experience.
Our boarding house community includes pupils from an array of nations. This mix of cultures, languages and personalities helps youths to develop appreciation, esteem and respect towards others, as well as their social competence.
We support the desire to perform and aim to awaken and encourage enthusiasm for life and learning. Our boarding house residents develop their sense of responsibility, open-mindedness and creativity.
In an atmosphere marked by its tolerance and vitality, our boarding house team provides pupils with supervision, support and care around the clock, in matters of academic or personal importance. The staff of caregivers accompany pupils in study halls, and organise a diverse array of free-time activities, both during the week as well as at weekends.
"The students are my focus, that's what I work on 24/7. Throughout the day we work and at night we visualise what we want to achieve. Getting better and better in order to provide our students with the best conditions for their education is my driving force."
At HIF we want all our students to feel at home in Ftan and to love their school. At the same time we expect our students to make certain commitments. With our support, they agree:
