Daily Routine in the
Boarding House

HIF Boarding School lunch

A typical day in a Swiss Boarding School

The structure of our daily routine is clearly laid out, improving work morale and encouraging a rhythm of productive regularity. Students are imparted with important values such as punctuality, good behaviour and taking responsibility for oneself and one’s actions.

Take responsibility, gain freedom

Sensible and clear rules, which are enforced fairly, understandingly and consistently, encourage thoughtfulness and discipline. Throughout the course of their school career at HIF Swiss International School, students are gradually given more responsibility but are also simultaneously awarded more freedom to autonomously organise their day and personal habits. The deciding factors along these lines are their age, scholastic performance, personal attitude and their willingness to act as a good example for others through positive engagement within the school community.

Whaaaat? Wake-up at 6.45 AM?

A school day is a working day but no two days are quite the same. However, there are routines and these give students a sense of security which comes with structure and regularity. After waking up at around 6.45 AM, a typical day at HIF might look like this:

Supervised study and leisure time

House parents are vigilant, alert to what is going on around them and they expect high standards of conduct, tolerance and manners. There are house and school rules to be respected and at times house parents called on to issue sanctions. At the same time, they help students to learn from mistakes or misbehaviour and take responsibility for their actions. On a day-to-day bases house parents are concerned with practical realities of life. They educate, they help students and organise sport and leisure activities. House parents make sure students:
